En Route To Dubai

Wow! We still are nowhere near Dubai, but we've had a great day. It was freezing when we loaded our bags into the van at the airport hotel in Spokane. On the plane we ran into two of the commissioners from work who were going to Seattle for a meeting, and a radiologist friend of Brian's. That's what happens when you live in a small town, it's hard to sneak off incognito. Then in Seattle we came across Murray and Leslie Huppin on their way to Vegas! When we arrived in San Francisco it was raining, but it soon cleared up and we took the BART subway to the Embarcadero, and a trolley (Planes, Trains, Automobiles, and a Trolley?) to Pier 39 where Brian tried out his new camera and took hundreds of pictures. We wondered around for a bit and then headed to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner. We went to the ultra touristy looking place called Nick's Lighthouse, and I thought it would be pretty awful, but I was wrong, and we had a wonderful meal! Then we took the train back to the airport to check in for our flight to Hong Kong. They have those new body scanners at security there, and it is causing a lot of confusion. Their instructions are very vague so no one knows what's happening, the poor guy in front of me took his clothes off, clearly not what the TSA people were expecting. Luckily it wasn't too busy, otherwise there would have been huge hold ups. We eventually got through and are now waiting for our plane. Due to crossing the International Date Line we don't get Sunday so when we wake up tomorrow in Hong Kong it will be Monday! Very confusing.

Queen Mary 2 Dubai to Hong Kong

Well here we are in Spokane! Finally on vacation.

We have way too much luggage, with 4 full suitcases already how am I going to do major shopping in Bangkok. It will have to be something small, like jewelry, star sapphires maybe!

So my hair is done, the bags are packed, we've introduced the kitties to the poop-o-matic Cat Genie (which they have rejected) so that Eileen doesn't have to deal with kitty litter while we are away. Now all we have to do is wake up at the crack of dawn to catch our flight. We leave Spokane in the early hours tomorrow, and get to Dubai at 9:30 PM on Monday. That's an awful lot of time in the air. I hope the champagne is good!

Queen Mary 2 Dubai to Hong Kong

I can't believe it, a week today we will be flying to Dubai to join my favorite ship, the Queen Mary 2! The trip is to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. OK, so we have been married for 31 years, but I have never been known for being on time.

Dubai here we come!
